How to get there

Getting to Alta

Your expedition starts in Alta, Norway. Fly to Alta Airport (ALF), typically via Oslo (OSL) or Tromsö (TOS). From Alta Airport, it is a short taxi or bus ride to the city center, where the meeting point is located.

We strongly recommend arriving the day before your trip begins. If that is not possible, you should arrive at least two hours before the meeting time. Weather delays are common in Northern Norway, and if you miss the departure, you will need to arrange your own transportation to the boat.

Accommodation in Alta

We recommend staying at the Scandic Hotel Alta, which is close to the pick-up location. It offers comfortable rooms, great breakfast, and free luggage storage for Orcanorway guests on the day of departure.

Luggage Storage on Departure Day

If you need to store your luggage on departure day, we have an agreement with Scandic Hotel Alta:

• Guests staying at Scandic Alta can store their luggage free of charge.
• Guests not staying at Scandic Alta can store their luggage for a fee of NOK 100,- per person.

Important: Please tell the hotel reception that you are an Orcanorway guest when dropping off your luggage. This ensures it is placed in the correct storage room reserved for our group.

While luggage can be stored at Scandic Alta, the hotel’s common area must not be used as a waiting area. We encourage all guests to enjoy the city or join a local activity such as husky sledding before pick-up.

Pick-Up Details

The pick-up is in the parking lot outside the main entrance of the Scandic Hotel in Alta.

• Saturday departures: Bus available between3:30 PM and 4:00 PM
• Tuesday departures: Bus available between6:30 PM and 7:00 PM.

Please go directly outside to the parking lot - we do not meet inside the hotel, and the lobby or reception must not be used as a waiting area. Look for our private bus and our team. Easily recognized by their Orcanorway jackets.

End of the Expedition and Return

The expedition ends on either Friday or Tuesday, with disembarkation between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Afterward, our private bus will bring you back to Alta City and can also drop you off at Alta Airport if needed. (Please note: We do not offer airport pick-up at the start of the trip.)

If you are flying home the same day, please do not book a return flight departing before 6:00 PM, as we cannot guarantee arrival at the airport before 5:00 PM.
